“Bike for Mom Impressive Images”

Jubilee throughout Thailand with Thai people who came together and rode bicycles in the Bike for Mom activity, which dedicated the loyalty to Her Majesty The Queen and The monarchy.

Having fully kindness from His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn who rode the bicycle leading the cycling procession, accompanied with Her Royal Highness Princess Bajra Kitiyabha, the cabinet members, the chief executives, the officer and groups of people. Department of Science Service was proud to attend this historical event.

DSS/MOST Open House Showed Its Service Enhancement to Entrepreneurs for Their Success with Science and Technology

On July 24, 2015 Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as a chairman opened the “Department of Science Service (DSS) Open House” exhibition to enhance services for entrepreneurs to develop a product quality in an international level. The objective is to show the DSS’s scientific development which has the availability potential in a matter of personnel, academic concern, and modern equipment being ready for services and being a part of support to Thai entrepreneurs in the competition potential and product quality development for the advancement of social and economic sectors, and the quality of people’s life.

 The DSS, one government sector of the MOST is a part to drive science and technology (s & t) to enhance the economic development and life quality of a community society. The DSS has the continuous development and changes the structure, role and mission of the organization to keep pace with changes of the s & t situation from inside and outside a country in order to drive diverse s & t services in testing; calibration; research and development as well as technology transfer; laboratory accreditation; laboratory proficiency testing; potential development of laboratory scientists; and science and technology information services which thoroughly respond to the requirements of customers and ensure the services. Today’s open house is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to contact various activities in the actual work places which will contribute to their understanding and will be able to request the DSS’s services to meet their requirements.

 The DSS’s director-general Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara said that the DSS held the “DSS Open House” exhibition to enhance services for entrepreneurs to develop a product quality in the international level. An event includes a keynote address from the Minister of the MOST in the subject “Science and technology services to support MSTQ with national development. Following the above event is a forum in the subject “National standards and product quality to increase competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs” and a laboratory visiting which is divided into 8 clusters as follows: Cluster 1. Organic compounds testing Laboratory, Cluster 2. Food and food contact material testing laboratory, Cluster 3. Ceramic testing laboratory, Cluster 4. Measuring instrument calibration testing laboratory, Cluster 5. Thermal insulation material testing laboratory, Cluster 6. Center for laboratory proficiency testing, Cluster 7. Rubber mixing and forming operational plant, and Cluster 8. Science and technology information warehouse. Ending with consultation from professional scientists in various fields to exchange knowledge in science and technology; to understand the operation; and to acknowledge research and development work of the above mentioned clusters will enhance the international competitiveness of the country and support to raise the quality of people’s life as well as create opportunities for development cooperation in the research between departments in the future. The event interested various sectors more than 400 persons, such as stakeholders, associated private sectors, walk-in customers, etc. at the DSS, Rama 6 road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok.

DSS/MOST Release a New Application “Food Contact Materials” to Support Thai Manufacturers.

Nowadays, smartphone and tablet are normal equipment for life. Therefore, application for those devices is involved in various activities to provide comfort, quick and easier work.

Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and Department of Science Service (DSS) have realized the importance of daily life of people to access into information and a service for Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) having been entered into a smart service offerings to provide the quick and easy access to information through a variety of information technology and communication devices; therefore, DSS integrate with Science and Technology Knowledge Center, Ministry of Science and Technology to set up the STI knowledge in the application named “Food contact materials” through mobile devices in order to aware the safety of food contact materials. Bureau of Science and Technology Information and Center of ASEAN Food Contact material Testing, DSS provide knowledge information such as general information on the food contact materials, hazard from non-quality of food contact materials, the selection of buy/use of food contact materials, questions and regulations/ goods/ standards/ testing methods.

DSS/MOST Has Organized a Workshop on “The Importance of Monitoring and Quality Control of SMEs Products”

On 27^th November 2015, Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara, Director-General of the Department of Science Service (DSS) presided over the workshop on “The importance of monitoring and quality control of SMEs product”. The purposes are giving knowledge of SMEs in the strategy and empowering competitiveness then discussing the role of the quality control laboratory for SMEs products. The participants were the owners and staffs of SMEs about 200 persons, on the 6^th Floor, Institute of Analytical Chemistry Training Building.
