DSS/MOST Open House Showed Its Service Enhancement to Entrepreneurs for Their Success with Science and Technology
On July 24, 2015 Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as a chairman opened the “Department of Science Service (DSS) Open House” exhibition to enhance services for entrepreneurs to develop a product quality in an international level. The objective is to show the DSS’s scientific development which has the availability potential in a matter of personnel, academic concern, and modern equipment being ready for services and being a part of support to Thai entrepreneurs in the competition potential and product quality development for the advancement of social and economic sectors, and the quality of people’s life.
The DSS, one government sector of the MOST is a part to drive science and technology (s & t) to enhance the economic development and life quality of a community society. The DSS has the continuous development and changes the structure, role and mission of the organization to keep pace with changes of the s & t situation from inside and outside a country in order to drive diverse s & t services in testing; calibration; research and development as well as technology transfer; laboratory accreditation; laboratory proficiency testing; potential development of laboratory scientists; and science and technology information services which thoroughly respond to the requirements of customers and ensure the services. Today’s open house is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs to contact various activities in the actual work places which will contribute to their understanding and will be able to request the DSS’s services to meet their requirements.
The DSS’s director-general Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara said that the DSS held the “DSS Open House” exhibition to enhance services for entrepreneurs to develop a product quality in the international level. An event includes a keynote address from the Minister of the MOST in the subject “Science and technology services to support MSTQ with national development. Following the above event is a forum in the subject “National standards and product quality to increase competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs” and a laboratory visiting which is divided into 8 clusters as follows: Cluster 1. Organic compounds testing Laboratory, Cluster 2. Food and food contact material testing laboratory, Cluster 3. Ceramic testing laboratory, Cluster 4. Measuring instrument calibration testing laboratory, Cluster 5. Thermal insulation material testing laboratory, Cluster 6. Center for laboratory proficiency testing, Cluster 7. Rubber mixing and forming operational plant, and Cluster 8. Science and technology information warehouse. Ending with consultation from professional scientists in various fields to exchange knowledge in science and technology; to understand the operation; and to acknowledge research and development work of the above mentioned clusters will enhance the international competitiveness of the country and support to raise the quality of people’s life as well as create opportunities for development cooperation in the research between departments in the future. The event interested various sectors more than 400 persons, such as stakeholders, associated private sectors, walk-in customers, etc. at the DSS, Rama 6 road, Ratchathewi, Bangkok.
