The Department of Science Service (DSS) has committed to provide services in science with overseeing, promoting, and conducting science and technology research and development. The DSS also serves as the national center for science and technology dedicated to a continuous improvement of national productivities, competitive capacity, and sustainability in a landscape of economy and societal development. The DSS’s responsibilities and authorities are as follows:
1. Development of the quality of laboratories by promoting and supporting the laboratories in chemistry, physics, and biological sciences in compliance with international standards, enhancing the potentials and capabilities of laboratories to be recognized internationally and produce high-quality products.
2. Development of skillsets and capabilities of laboratory personnel with academic ad technical education and training programs, leveraging knowledge and skills of personnel working in both the public and private sectors and simultaneously, achieving national labor needs.
3. Development of the science and technology library and information center with acquiring, organizing, and providing high-level qualities of service in scientific and technology information, and applications of information technology as a national-level source of academic and science and technology information.
4. Undertaking community technology research and development through conducting potential studies, research, and development and their transferring into practice to support the economy and communities.
5. Establishment of a national center for science and technology with providing analytical and testing services for raw materials and products in chemistry, physical chemistry, physics, mechanical physics, engineering, and biological sciences, analyzing environmental pollution from a areas of chemistry, physical chemistry, mechanical physics, and engineer, and calibrating the accuracy of instruments and measuring equipment for both government and private sectors and general public.
6. Undertaking any other operations as prescribed by law as the authority and responsibility of the DSS, or as assigned by the Minister or the Cabinet.
