DSS, Ministry of Science Cooperate with EGAT in Electrical Appliance Testing under the Label no.5 Electricity Saving Project for Highly Efficient Energy Consumption

 On 16 September 2015 Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara Director-General of Department of Science Service and Mr. Soonchai Kumnoonsate governor of Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand have signed the cooperative agreement between Department of Science Service (DSS) and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to test the ventilating-type of electric fans under the Label no.5 Electricity Saving Project which aims to encourage Thailand efficient energy consumption and environmental protection. Dr. Kurujit Nakornthap Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Energy was a witness in the signing ceremony at The Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao Bangkok.

Dr. Suthiweth said “DSS has cooperated in testing the ventilating-type of electric fans No. 5 which is the label to guarantee the preservation and highest efficiency of electrical appliances. EGAT informed that the project provided 1,400,000 labels among 2012 – 2015. This signing held to have continued collaboration. The purpose is collaborative networks in electrical appliance testing under the Label no.5 Electricity Saving Project which is a part to promote the highly effective and economical energy utilization and environment preservation of the country; and encourage all sectors to realize the importance of an energy resource which is a fundamental factor of the country’s economic growth. On a scope of the cooperation DSS provide testing services for energy efficiency of the ventilating-type of alternating-current (AC) electric fans according to the EGAT’s request. The action plans and practical guidelines will be prepared together for the convenient and quick sending of samples and testing reports to meet the requirements.”

DSS Arranged the Special Lectures “The Laboratory Development for Product Quality Control” and “The Initial Manipulation of ISO / IEC 17025 Standard Quality System” in The Thailand Lab 2015 Exhibition

 On 10 September 2015 Department of Science Service joined The Thailand Lab 2015 exhibition with special lectures on the topics “The laboratory development for product quality control” and “The initial manipulation of ISO / IEC 17025 standard quality system” at Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre: BITEC.

Thailand Lab 2015 was the trade show and conference on technology, instruments, and and scientific laboratories of the agencies under the Ministry of Science and Technology, namely Department of Science Service, Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research, National Institute of Metrology, National Science and Technology Development Agency and Thailand Centre of Excellent for Life Sciences, along with more than 40 partner agencies in a government sector and a private sector. It was also an international conference which provided a lot of knowledge.

In the exhibition Department of Science Service arranged the special lectures in various Interesting topics. On 10 September the morning session was the topic “The laboratory development for product quality control” lectured by Dr. Pochaman Tagheen. It discussed the important factors that cause reliability of measuring results such as the customer’s demand; the personnel ability; the reasonableness of the test methods and Instruments; the metrological traceability and the uncertainty of measurement; quality assurance and the assessment of the laboratories’ ability from the accreditation bodies etc. The afternoon session was the topic “The initial manipulation of ISO / IEC 17025 standard quality system” lectured by Mrs. Dusadee Munkwamdee. It discussed the practical steps to implement the quality system of ISO / IEC 17025 standard to establish credibility of test results which were recognized and laboratory system accredited from the accreditation bodies which were mutually recognized in the regional and international level for the reduction of trade barriers and the increase in competitiveness.

DSS / Ministry of Science and Technology Provide Consultation in the Testing for SMEs Entrepreneurs

 Department of Science Service (DSS), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) joined the science and technology consultation in the testing activity and the MOST One Stop Service for SMEs entrepreneurs within a press conference “SME Provincial Champions” project on 3 September 2015 at Santi Maitree Building, Government House.

A service to test products had been a part of services on the science and technology infrastructure being considered as one of the important factors for production development of entrepreneurs to empower both the domestic and international competition; therefore, Department of Science Service, which has the mission to provide analysis and testing of products related to the manufacturing industry and SMEs, participated in the exhibition and consultation of the DSS laboratory testing, and the testing and calibration services of the MOST One Stop Service for SMEs entrepreneurs by emphasizing entrepreneurs to realize and understand the linkage of testing results utilization in product development, from the selection of raw materials to the manufacture as well as to use as important information about commercialization, resulting in improvement of confidence in the quality and safety of products, and strength of the competitiveness .

In the exhibition, those SMEs entrepreneurs who registered on the DSS booth, would have the 10% discount for the testing fee after submitting tested product samples within 1 September to 31 December 2015.

Department of Science Service Arranged the seminar “DSS Kicks off ISO 9001:2015”

 On 1 September 2015 Department of Science Service arranged the seminar “DSS kicks off ISO 9001:2015” to prepare for a new standard edition “ISO 9001:2015” which will be promulgated in September 2015. Acting 2,LT. Sun Jhitkraikroun, Deputy Director-General as a chairman opened the seminar at 6^th floor conference room, Analytical Chemistry Training building, Department of Science Service.

The quality management system ISO 9001:2015 is the standard which is particularly important for various entrepreneurs or organizations in both the manufacturing and service sectors. It has been used for more than five years. Department of Science Service had recognized such importance; therefore, it arranged the seminar in order that personnel related to the quality management system could get knowledge and understanding of the changes in ISO 9001:2015, and could put that knowledge to use in enterprise applications.
