The Certification Ceremony of Accreditation for 5 organizations issued by DSS

 

 

 

  

 

          On 25th October 2016 at Akkaramatee room, 6th floor, Tua-Lapanukom building, Department of Science Service (DSS.) Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara, Director-General of DSS presided over the ceremony of accreditation and an DSS executive also participated in the ceremony. The information of the accredited organizations was presented by Mrs. Dusadee Munkwamdee, Acting Director of Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation (BLA), DSS.

          Afterwards Director-General of DSS granted the ISO/IEC 17043:2010 and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation certificates to 3 proficiency testing providers and 2 laboratories  including Bureau of Cosmetics and Hazardous Substances, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, WWARN QA/QC, Worldwide Antimalarial Resistance Network, Mahidol-Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit, Bureau of Drug and Narcotic, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, Scientific Equipment Center, Prince of Songkla University and Laboratory of Thip Sugar Kamphaengphet Co., Ltd., respectively.

DSS / MOST enhance the testing laboratory performance in provincial part

 

 

 

   

  

         On 29-30 August 2016, Department of Science Service (DSS), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) arranged the workshop to enhance the testing laboratory performance in provincial part. Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) presided over and gave a speech entitled “Enhancing entrepreneur performance through the MSTQ” on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the workshop at Golden City Rayong Hotel.

             Furthermore, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj gave the Accredited Laboratory Awards to 8 laboratories.       Dr. Suthiweth T. Saengchantara (Director-General of DSS), Mr. Montri Chanachaiwiboonwat (Deputy Governor of Rayong province), and a group of adminstrators welcomed the Minister. Approximately 250 representatives from the laboratories in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate and nearby participated in the workshop. 

 

DSS Science eBook application with the Information service of BSTI

 

As the internet is a part of our lives, the behaviors of the library users have changed. Most users would rather access the information through internet network than visit the library. Therefore, the DSS Science eBook application was developed by the BSTI to satisfy the users’ needs. 

The DSS Science eBook application consists of the science and technology-based e-books. The users can read the books online anywhere and anytime using their personal electronic devices such as smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC. The application can be downloaded from website http://ebook.dss.go.th. It also can be downloaded from either the Play store using the Android or the App store using the iOS by searching for “Science eBook Library”. The username and password for using the application will be obtained after registration.

Thailand Tech Show 2016

 

 

 

On 16th August 2016, Dr. Phichet Durongkhawerote, Minister of Science and Technology, presided over a news conference on an exhibition entitled “Thailand Tech Show 2016” under the concept of “S&T for Thailand 4.0”. Dr. Lada Punsukumtana, Senior Professional Scientist and Representative of Department of Science Service (DSS) also attended the news conference. The Thailand Tech Show 2016, hosted by the organizations in Ministry of Science and Technology including National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), DSS, and more than 20 alliances, will be held on 8th-10th 

2016 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The Thailand Tech Show 2016 will exhibit a variety of research projects, technologies, and innovations. Two research projects of DSS presented in the event are “The development of mango antimicrobial coating substance to prolong the shelf life of freshly harvested produce” and “Rubber speed bump reduces vehicle speeds”.

The event is expected to promote the research commercialization and provide the technology-based entrepreneurs and Tech Startups the opportunities to invest in domestic and international business.

DSS has arranged the workshop on “Enhancing the laboratory performance according to ISO/IEC 17025” to improve the export competitiveness of Thailand

 

 

 

               On 7th July 2016, Dr. Natchanapong Vajiravongburi, Deputy Director General of the Department of Science Service (DSS) presided over the first workshop of the year 2016 on “Enhancing the laboratory performance according to ISO/IEC 17025”. The workshop was held on 7-8 July 2016 at the Office of Bang Poo Industrial Estate, Samut Prakan by integration among the internal organizations of DSS including the Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation, the Bureau of Laboratory Personnel Development, and the Center for Laboratory Proficiency Testing, as well as an external organization, the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion. The workshop aims to transfer knowledge about the laboratory accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025 described as follows: the regulation and implementation of ISO/IEC 17025, the method validation and uncertainty of measurement, and the quality assurance of the test results for laboratories in Bang Poo Industrial Estate and nearby.
