Center For Laboratory Proficiency Testing (CLPT)

Proficiency Testing (PT) constitutes a vital mechanism in the quality assurance system for testing and calibration laboratories. It is recognized as one of the key methods for evaluating laboratory competence by means of performing testing or calibration on designated samples using specific methodologies. The primary objective is to verify technical capability and ensure the validity and reliability of measurement results, in alignment with the requirements set forth in the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for laboratory quality management systems. Participation in proficiency testing programs facilitates the continuous monitoring of laboratory performance, verification of testing and calibration techniques, and fosters confidence in the accuracy and consistency of laboratory outcomes, both internally and among service recipients. Furthermore, the effective implementation of such activities contributes significantly to the systematic development and sustainable strengthening of the national infrastructure in science, research, and innovation.

The CLPT operates under a policy framework that mandates its role as the organizer of proficiency testing programs for laboratories and the producer of reference materials/ control materials. Its operations are conducted with impartiality and without discrimination, in accordance with its status as a non-profit organization. The CLPT is supported by the government, with funding for the organization of proficiency testing programs and the production of reference/control materials allocated from the national budget. All revenues generated from the execution of its mandated activities are considered public funds and must be remitted to the Ministry of Finance in accordance with applicable laws.
