Bureau of Laboratory Accreditation - Department of Science Service (BLA-DSS) was established in October 2002, through the Ministerial Regulation B.E. 2545 (A.D. 2002) with the intention to reorganize the Department of Science Service, Ministry of Science and Technology. After the reorganization, the BLA-DSS can develop the capability of laboratories by providing assessment and accreditation services to laboratory and Proficiency Testing Provider to comply with international standards.
In 2003, the BLA-DSS began to provide testing laboratory accreditation services according to ISO/IEC 17025 within the Kingdom of Thailand in the scope of Physical Testing, Chemical Testing and Biological Testing.
The BLA-DSS has been a signatory to the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (APLAC MRA) in the scope of testing laboratory accreditation since May 22, 2006 and a signatory to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC MRA) in the scope of testing laboratory accreditation since August 23, 2006. The BLA-DSS is currently a full member of the APLAC and ILAC.
