๐ข Responsibilities:
The Structural and Surface Characterization Group holds primary responsibility for systematically examining and elucidating the intrinsic structural attributes, microstructural architecture, and surface properties of a broad spectrum of materials. This remit extends to bespoke, high-performance materials engineered to withstand extreme operating conditions and multifactorial service environments. The Group conducts rigorous, high-caliber research and development to catalyze innovation that substantively fulfills the requirements of strategically targeted industries.
- Formulate and validate standardized protocols for internal and microstructural characterization of materials utilizing advanced, high-resolution techniques that conform to pertinent regulatory directives and international normative standards.
- Develop pioneering test methodologies and specialized diagnostic approaches to support the synthesis and fabrication of materials with tailored functionalitiesโsuch as those intended for aerospace, biomedical, or energy sectorsโthereby reinforcing national competitiveness and technological leadership.
- Conduct in-depth investigations into surface phenomena of materials, elucidating topographical and compositional features that critically influence performance, durability, and application efficacy.
- Design and produce certified reference materials to enhance the quality assurance and traceability of analytical operations across domestic laboratories.
- Continuously monitor, refine, and elevate testing methodologies and associated standards to keep pace with the rapid advancement of material science and analytical technologies.
- Engage in research and innovation concerning cutting-edge surface analysis techniques to facilitate the precise evaluation of novel, purpose-built materials, generating robust datasets that inform process optimization and product enhancement across industrial sectors.
- Develop and curate a comprehensive knowledge repository cataloging the structural and surface characteristics of materials to serve as an indispensable resource for research, development, and industrial analytics.
- Disseminate advanced expertise in structural and surface characterization through targeted knowledge transfer initiatives to stakeholders across both public and private domains.
- Strengthen the testing capacity of regional laboratory networks by providing technical guidance, mentoring, and specialized training programs.
- Foster collaborative engagements and furnish technical support to partner agencies and other relevant organizations as mandated by supervisory authority.

- Characterize the distinctive structural and surface attributes of materials.
- Investigate structural and surface evolutions under diverse environmental conditions, including wear, corrosion, and oxidative processes.
- Examine crystallographic features, as well as the types and quantitative composition of elemental constituents present in materials.
- Elucidate surface topography utilizing two- and three-dimensional imaging modalities.
- Identify and quantify surface-bound compounds employing both qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques.
- Perform elemental mapping to assess spatial distribution of constituent elements.
- Determine molecular architecture and compositional profiles by means of infrared spectroscopy and nuclear magnetic resonance under applied magnetic fields.
- Assess surface structure, elemental composition, and oxidation states in low-density materials.
- Probe chemically induced surface modifications via infrared absorption spectroscopy.
- Evaluate morphological characteristics of substances, including particle size and particle size distribution.
- Investigate surface and particle reactivity under rigorously controlled experimental parameters.
