What kind of the testing service for the solid biofuel/charcoal briquette can the DSS laboratory offer?

The DSS laboratory provides the testing service items including moisture, ash, volatile matter, fixed carbon, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen, gross calorific value, and net calorific value.

How to prepare the solid biofuel (rice husk, bagasse, palm kernel shell, wood scrap, charcoal briquette, etc.) before the sample submission to the DSS testing service center.

The solid biofuel sample should be dried, because if the sample is wet or has high moisture content, it will spoil or be moldy before testing. Moreover, the sample should be cut or ground into small pieces. Then, approximate 0.5 kg of the ground sample should be filled in the dried and closed container with the label of the sample title according to the information in the sample submission form.

How to do if the solid alcohol for fuel purpose is requested for testing according to Thai Industrial Standard 950-2547 (TIS 950-2547).

The submission of the solid alcohol for fuel purpose at the Department of Science Service (DSS) can be classified into 2 cases:

  • Case #1: The manufacturer needs the test result for requesting the TIS mark permission from Thai Industrial Standard Institute (TISI).
  • Case #2: The manufacturer already has the TIS mark permission, but TISI needs to randomly check the quality of the product.

Both cases require the sample preparation as follow:

  • Two sets of the sample (at least 500 grams per a set of sample; at least 2 containers per a set of sample) are required.
  • The sample must be in the completely closed container to protect the evaporation of the sample.
  • The label on the sample container indicates the title, mark, manufacturing date, and net weight of the sample.
